Luc HUEBER (1888–1974) "The Former Persohn Bathhouse, Finkwiller in Strasbourg, Under the Snow" 1958 Oil on hardboard Signed and dated lower right, titled on the back of the panel Molded wooden frame, repainted gray with a gold patina H 54 x W 65 cm Located on the banks of the Ill River, in Strasbourg’s historic Finkwiller district, the Persohn Baths owe their name to Auguste Persohn, who became the owner in 1876. Alfred Persohn took over the business in 1907. At the time, the facility offered baths and showers, medicinal baths, and river baths, which were set up directly in the current of the Ill River. A testament to a Strasbourg that no longer exists, the former Finkwiller Baths were demolished in 1970.
