SMALL LOUIS XVI-STYLE SLOPING "DONKEY'S BACK" DESK Made of rosewood veneer with light and stained wood inlays and inlaid with butterfly wings, the sloping top panel simulates, on the front, two doors with herringbone-inlaid panels set within ornate frames, and opens at the bottom to reveal a large drawer running along the base. The piece rests on four curved legs with chiseled bronze fittings; it features two keyholes on the drop-down top, two leaf-motif pull handles on the drawer, and small glides on the front legs. The interior conceals small drawers and storage niches. France, late 18th to early 19th century, shows signs of normal wear. Dimensions: 102 x 60 x 41 cm
