SET OF THREE PLAQUES Set consisting of: - “Aux Braves,” a bronze plaque referenced in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, created around 1918 by Aumont, a French sculptor of the early 20th century, depicting Winged Victory embracing a soldier (a “poilu”), holding a palm frond. The museum notes that Aumont’s style follows the tradition of 19th-century French art, using an idealized allegorical female figure in classical drapery to represent the State honoring a soldier. - The giraffe plaque, signed by François Maurice Thénot (1893–1963), a French sculptor and medalist, depicting a model known as the “Thénot Animal Group” or "The Jungle Animals," designed around 1931 for the 1931 Paris Colonial Exposition. Thénot created a series of 10 single-sided plaques depicting kudus, impalas, buffalo, pumas, giraffes, pythons, a battle between antelopes, lions, elephants, and rhinoceroses. - The Mont Saint-Michel plaque with an arched top, a classic French commemorative subject (Mont Saint-Michel being one of the most frequently depicted monuments in French medal art).
