IN THE STYLE OF KEES VAN DONGEN Portraits of Young Women Double-sided sketches in oil on cardboard, featuring portraits of young women stylized in a graphic and sensual manner reminiscent of the work of Kees van Dongen (1877–1968), a Fauvist portraitist who settled in Monaco in 1959, where he lived until his death. The first depicts a pale-skinned young woman wearing a black bow tie, with a long, dark-rimmed gaze, against a solid brown background. The second, drawn in oil pastel and accented with color, depicts a young woman with a languid gaze, wearing a wide blue cloche hat, rendered in the lively, simplified style typical of female figures from the Roaring Twenties. Tears and a missing corner. Dimensions: 33.5 x 24 cm Provenance: Private collection of Jean Eugène Guillaud, Monaco
