THE CIRCLE OR STUDIO OF PIERRE AUGUSTE RENOIR (1841–1919) Still Life with Onions, Apples, a Book, and a Bouquet of Daisies Sketch, oil on canvas mounted on panel. This intimate composition is set on a table covered with a white tablecloth with pronounced folds that catch the light. On the left, a cluster of four red onions with sprouting green stems displays shades of copper and violet. In the center, two apples rest in front of a closed, folded newspaper placed on its edge. The background is crowned on the right by a basket holding a generous bouquet of small wildflowers. The neutral background, fluidly brushed in shades of brown and gray-green, highlights the texture and fleshy hue of the fruits and vegetables. Condition: As is. Unsigned study. Clear studio pin holes in the upper corners. Slight scuffing and small areas where paint is missing around the edges, particularly along the top edge. Dimensions: 33 x 46 cm
