GEORGES HENRI MANZANA-PISSARRO (1871–1961) Magpie Among the Fruit Against a Nocturnal Background Woodcut, in the style of a Japanese print, enhanced with gouache, silver, and gold, on brown paper mounted on cardboard, signed lower left. Composition depicting a magpie perched among dark foliage laden with red fruits, set against a deep black background enhanced by broad strokes of silver and shades of gold, suggesting the play of nocturnal light on the foliage. Executed with broad, contrasting blocks of color. The mat has been torn away, causing some damage to the paper.
