A Louis XV style games table, attributed to François Linke (1855-1946) Satinwood and rosewood veneered, decorated with floral marquetry in various woods and chiselled and gilt bronze mounts Rectangular in form, with a hinged double top, shaped outline and rounded corners With shaped apron and four cabriole legs The top opens to reveal a playing surface lined in green felt 75x82x46 cm The attribution to François Linke is proposed by comparison with a games table of very similar configuration, proportions and marquetry decoration, signed “F. Linke” on one of the bronze mounts and sold by John Moran Auctioneers. The present example differs, however, in the design of the bronze mounts.
