SET OF 3 MASAI NECKLACES, KENYA, TANZANIA Leather, beads, cowrie shells, metal, thread. Wide beaded necklaces composed of several rows of colored beads, the colors of which generally have specific meanings: blue evokes the sky and God, while green symbolizes peace and vegetation. Dimensions: 18 cm in diameter, 37 cm for the decoration beneath the necklace. The construction of these necklaces is complex, resulting in a rigid, flat structure. They also feature long strands of beads hanging below. These necklaces were primarily worn during wedding ceremonies. Very beautiful examples. Beaded strings are missing from one of the necklaces.
