SMALL XYLOPHONE, DR CONGO, ANGOLA, TANZANIA Wood, iron. Dimensions: 22 cm high. This musical instrument is known throughout a wide geographical area of Central Africa, in particular. It consists of a wooden soundbox—often decorated with finely incised geometric patterns—and a row of metal bars of roughly equal size held in place by a metal rod above a small open box.
