PIERO GILARDI 1942–2023 Catastrophe 1989 — Sound installation consisting of twenty-three pieces of polyurethane foam and an audio cassette. Variable dimensions, site-specific. Signed and dated on one element. Work accompanied by a certificate of authenticity on a photograph signed by the artist. I believe that Pietro Gilardi’s polyurethane foam meteorites, suspended in mid-air between heaven and earth, aim to reclaim the sacred dimension of the Dayachi’s “stones of light,” based precisely on this sense of disorientation, of contact with an astral infinity that is distant yet at the same time deeply rooted in the collective imagination.
