Paris, first half of the 19th century. Silversmith P. Leplain (gross weight 590 g) (height 24 cm) (defects). Pierre Leplain was a celebrated goldsmith and silversmith active in Paris between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His workshop reached its peak during the First French Empire. After registering his maker’s mark in 1803, he maintained a highly productive business during the first two decades of the century; indeed, his pieces frequently bear Parisian guarantee hallmarks struck between 1809 and 1819. IT Caffettiera in argento a corpo liscio, versatoio zoomorfo, presa a pigna, ansa sagomata in legno ebanizzato, piedi ferini con attaccatura a foglie.
