A large figure is depicted standing, one hand raised, the other holding a small shield in front of his chest. He wears a conical headdress—or helmet—adorned on either side with two medallions. His open mouth reveals his tongue, and his eye sockets are openwork. His earlobes are adorned with round ear rings. This depiction may refer to the priesthood or shamanism, but it may also more clearly represent a warrior wearing a helmet and a war shield. Note that the two rings at the bottom of the trunk-like legs may refer either to ornaments or to the fact that he is wearing clothing or armor. Ochre-beige ceramic with traces of engobe. Mexico.
