RÉQUICHOT (Bernard). — Tribute to Bernard Réquichot. 1929–1961. Tanlay, Center for Contemporary Art, Château de Tanlay, “Chemins de la Création” collection; no visible date on the photographs. A quarto-sized volume, paperback, with a color-illustrated cover. Exhibition catalog dedicated to Bernard Réquichot (1929–1961), a singular figure in postwar French art, whose work—cut short by his untimely death—occupies a unique place at the intersection of abstraction, surrealism, and experiments with materials. The book features, in particular, his drawings, collages, and assemblages, characterized by the use of heterogeneous materials, organic forms, and complex graphic structures. Extensive black-and-white and color illustrations reproduce several of the artist’s works, notably his graphic compositions and three-dimensional assemblages. This copy has some soiling on the cover, as well as scuffing and creases, particularly at the corners.
