MÉROT (Alain). A Revelation: N. POUSSIN, Paris, Hazan, 1990. A promotional and introductory booklet published by Éditions Hazan to coincide with the release of Alain Mérot’s major work on Nicolas Poussin. This promotional publication outlines the career of the master of French classicism and presents the scholarly and iconographic ambitions of the book. Illustrated with color reproductions of the painter’s major works, it highlights the decisive influence Poussin exerted on European painting, from David to Cézanne. A now-rare document, it bears witness to Hazan’s editorial policy at the turn of the 1990s. Quarto-sized brochure, illustrated in color, stapled.
