MAURIAC (François). — The Life of Jesus. Paris: Ernest Flammarion, “L'Histoire” series, 1936. In-8, paperback, beige cover with green printing, copy with full margins, untrimmed. First edition. The book was published in 1936 in Flammarion’s “L’Histoire” series and comprises 284 pages. One of 300 copies printed on Lafuma pure-thread tinted paper, numbered 211 through 510; this was the third paper type, following 60 copies on Japanese paper and 150 on Dutch paper, and preceding the 2,500 copies on alfa paper. Copy No. 322. This print run on pure-thread paper is significantly more sought-after than the standard print run on alfa paper. Cover and spine are faded and slightly soiled, with small tears and missing material along the edges of the endpapers, particularly on the back cover; headbands and corners are rubbed. A few scattered foxing spots, mainly on the first few leaves and in the margins; a small marginal tear without any loss on one leaf. The volume remains in its original paperback condition, untrimmed.
