DEWASNE (Jean), BETTENCOURT (Pierre), and BURY (Pol). — Kalinowski. Framed Paintings, Box Structures, Pulsating Box Structures, Stelae, Encasements, Pendants, Termes, Large-Format Drawings on Canvas. An Overview of His Work, 1958–1975. Stuttgart, Edition für moderne Kunst im Belser Verlag, 1975. A quarto-sized volume, paperback, with a color-illustrated cover. A retrospective monograph devoted to the works created by Horst Egon Kalinowski between 1958 and 1975, accompanied by texts by Jean Dewasne, Pierre Bettencourt, and Pol Bury. The book brings together the artist’s major series: frame-paintings, boxes, stelae, bagged works, and relief constructions. These creations, which combine leather, wood, and various other materials, reflect an original exploration of the materiality of the work and the relationship between painting and sculpture. This publication is particularly noteworthy for the contributions of three leading figures in contemporary art: Jean Dewasne, Pierre Bettencourt, and Pol Bury. It includes numerous photographic reproductions of the works, in both black-and-white and color. This copy shows some scuffing and minor wear on the cover.
