DELAUNAY (Sonia). — Sonia Delaunay Retrospective. Paris, National Museum of Modern Art, Réunion des Musées Nationaux, 1967–1968. Quarto, paperback, with a color illustrated cover featuring an abstract composition by Sonia Delaunay dated 1916. An important catalog of the retrospective dedicated to Sonia Delaunay at the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris in 1967–1968. This exhibition traces the artist’s entire career, from her early pictorial explorations to her abstract works based on simultaneous color contrasts. A key figure in the 20th-century avant-garde, Sonia Delaunay (1885–1979) developed, alongside Robert Delaunay, an original body of work combining painting, decorative arts, textiles, and fashion. The catalog includes numerous black-and-white and color reproductions, accompanied by detailed descriptions, bibliographic references, and information on provenance and exhibitions. It serves as a reference work on the artist’s oeuvre, particularly regarding her explorations of “Electric Prisms” and “simultaneous compositions.” Cover is slightly yellowed, with small stains and signs of wear, and a few minor creases in the margins.
