CHEVALLIER (Gabriel). — Clochemerle. Illustrations by Dubout. Paris, Ernest Flammarion, 1945. Large 4to, paperback, illustrated color-embossed cover. An illustrated edition featuring numerous color illustrations by Albert Dubout, some of which are full-page. Printing completed on July 5, 1945, at the Imprimerie Darantière in Dijon. Copy numbered 850. Condition: copy in fair condition. Cover is faded, browned, and dusty, with tears, small losses, and marginal wear; spine is rubbed. The paper is uniformly yellowed with fairly significant and scattered foxing. One endpaper bears a signed handwritten dedication, dated May 19, 1948, in an unidentified hand, which in this case constitutes more of an old annotation than a valuable provenance detail. Despite these flaws, this is a complete copy of this delightful edition of *Clochemerle*, sought after for its abundant illustrations by Dubout.
