BRAQUE (Georges). — Georges Braque. Paris, Éditions des Musées nationaux, 1973. A quarto-sized volume, paperback, with a printed cover. Catalog of the major retrospective exhibition dedicated to Georges Braque (1882–1963) at the Orangerie des Tuileries, from October 16, 1973, to January 14, 1974. The book traces the major stages of the painter’s career, from the Fauvist landscapes of his early years to the large Cubist compositions and the works of his mature period. Numerous black-and-white and color reproductions, including *Le Canal Saint-Martin* (1906), *L'Estaque*, and the large still lifes that marked the evolution of his pictorial language. An important document for the study of Braque’s work and its reception in the years following his death. This copy shows some signs of handling and soiling on the cover.
