BRAQUE (Georges). — Georges Braque. Paris, Éditions des Musées nationaux, 1973. A square in-4 volume, paperback, with an illustrated cover. Catalog of the major retrospective exhibition dedicated to Georges Braque (1882–1963), held at the Orangerie des Tuileries from October 16, 1973, to January 14, 1974. This exhibition traces the major stages of the painter’s career, from his early Fauvist experiments through the development of Cubism to the compositions of his mature period. The volume brings together extensive documentation on the evolution of his work, his explorations of the representation of space, the fragmentation of forms, and the organization of the pictorial surface. Numerous black-and-white and color reproductions, notably of works from the Cubist period, including *Woman Reading* (1911). A reference catalog for the study of Georges Braque’s work. Good copy, with slight signs of wear on the cover.
