Square 8vo, 93 pp., publisher’s cardboard binding covered in beige cloth, title and author’s name printed in blue on the front cover and spine. First edition, not for sale, of this study devoted to Galen, his life, his thought, and the enduring influence of his work in the history of medicine. The book was printed on December 2, 1961, by Draeger Frères in Montrouge for the Friends of the Union Latine d’Éditions. Bibliographic records confirm that this is indeed the original 1961 edition with 93 pages. The book is richly illustrated with reproductions and facsimiles of ancient manuscripts, particularly Greek and Latin ones, as well as miniatures related to Galen and the history of medicine. Condition: Hardcover with slight scuffing on the caps, corners, and edges, with a few small stains and soiling on the covers, including two more visible marks on the front cover. Interior is clean and fresh. A good copy despite the noted imperfections on the cover.
