712 - Savona Manufactory, Boselli-Levantino Company (?), 18th century (1758-1760 ?). Pair of majolica large jars (stagnoni/hydriae) painted in blue monochrome, dragon-head handles, with a central lower mask featuring a pierced throat for liquid discharge. The entire surface displays a "baroque historiated" (istoriato barocco) style decoration with mythological scenes, interrupted on the front of both vases by a cartouche inscribed with the apothecary contents (Aque Rosa and Aqua Graminis) (h. max cm 38) (defects, restorations, and missing parts). The mark appearing on the underside of both jars has been traced back to the partnership that, between 1758 and 1760, linked two important Savonese manufactories: that of Giuseppe Boselli and the one led by Angelo Levantino. In this regard, see: L. Pessa (ed.), Le ceramiche liguri: Musei e collezioni della città di Genova, Silvana Editoriale, Genoa, p. 128.
