208 - FRANCE, Third Republic. 1872-model gendarmerie non-commissioned officer’s sword. Straight blade with two fuller grooves (length: 80 cm). Brass hilt; the pommel features a lictor’s fasces superimposed on banners; shaft with simulated filigree and laurel leaf decoration, counter-guard featuring a pompon. Comes with its good-condition black leather scabbard with brass fittings. Matching numbers on the guard and one of the fittings: 1179. Oxidation and wear on the scabbard.
