VATICAN. Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem (reorganized in 1847). Rare knight’s insignia, breast model (prior to the 1978 reform authorizing wear around the neck), comprising, within its embossed case featuring the Cross of Jerusalem, the medal beneath a coat of arms (width 37 mm), the miniature (diameter 11 mm), and the lapel pin (diameter 13 mm). Provenance: Dr. George J. CRANE (1893–1966), USA. Dr. Crane, a leading figure in Catholic education and charity, was the founder and first principal of the highly renowned Bayside High School in New York from 1936 to 1951.
