VATICAN. Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem (reorganized in 1847), Lieutenancy of France. Combination of two squire’s insignia. Late 20th century. A small knight’s trophy breastplate cross is attached to it. The squires are a creation of the Lieutenancy of France (established in 1931 at the initiative of Baron de Lormans, Chancellor, and reconstituted in the late 1990s) and constitute a sort of class of aspiring knights, aged 20 to 30. They are dressed in a midnight-blue cloak.
