Handwoven wool and silk tapestry. Flanders, 16th–17th century. Elaborate decoration depicting a struggle over prey between fantastic creatures, a dragon and a griffin. The setting is a woodland rich in animal imagery, allegorical figures, vegetal motifs and figures dressed in period attire. In the background, a fortified castle and a manicured garden. Border decorated with human figures and fruit and flower garlands. Dimensions: 350 × 310 cm. (Defects and restorations.) IT Arazzo tessuto a mano in lana e seta. Fiandre, secolo XVI-XVII. Complesso decoro con scena di lotta per una preda tra creatura fantastiche, un drago ed un grifone. L'ambientazione è un bosco ricco di rappresentazioni animali, allegoriche, motivi vegetali e personaggi in abiti d'epoca, sullo sfondo una rocca ed un giardino curato.
