203 - Militaria: FRENCH REVOLUTION/Year II, 1793/Military certificate dated 20 Frimaire 1793 (December 10, 1793) from the Camp de la Poudrière in Toulon (Var 83)/Siege of Toulon and 6th Battalion of Bec-d’Ambès (Gironde) for Private Jean Vandangeron de Pellegrue/Official handwritten document of the period, signed and bearing the original red wax seal “MEB DEL GIRONDE.” Issued on the front lines in the midst of war, under the combined letterheads of the “Army of the South” and the “Infantry Battalion—General of Bec-d’Ambès, Company No. 6” (6th Battalion of National Volunteers of the Gironde). Issued at “Camp de la Poudrière” in Toulon, during the final phase of the historic battles to retake the city from coalition and royalist forces. The document is signed by the officers of the unit: Souverain, Captain commanding the 6th Battalion; Dubois, Captain commanding the 6th Company; Mary, officer (beautiful signature in the center).
