Militaria: Rare Official Ticket, 1850, Galerie Plans-Reliefs, Vauban and Vaillant War Sites—Ministry of War, Hôtel des Invalides, Paris—Fortifications, Rare Item—This ticket for four people is stamped by the General Fortifications Office of the Ministry of War. It bears the official printed signature of the President of the Fortifications Committee, the famous General Vaillant (future Marshal of France and Minister of War). The collection of relief maps, initiated by Vauban and Louvois, consisted of giant, top-secret models of French strongholds. This document attests to the highly regulated and selective opening of these secret military galleries to the public during the nascent Second Empire. The condition is absolutely remarkable and museum-quality for a loose document from this era.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
