Translated from the Italian by C. de R.B.M. Lausanne, Bousquet, 1753, in-12, XXX pp.—460 pp. Marbled fawn calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, red edges. (Contemporary binding). - Capitals scuffed, binding slightly worn, interior fresh. First edition. This text is apocryphal. This “Testament,” a historical genre then in vogue, is modeled after those of Richelieu, Mazarin, Colbert, and Louvois. Voltaire praised it. (Cioranescu II, 43787—entry by Quérard in *Supercheries I*, 233). Quérard describes at length the two attributions based on Gaullieur and Auguis. As for Alberoni (1664–1752), an agent of the Duke of Parma, he played an important role in the affairs of the War of the Spanish Succession before becoming a minister under Philip V.
