Maffei is undoubtedly the most famous. This edition, published by Vincenzo Cavallucci, contains all the commentaries that have appeared since the 1713 Modena edition, as well as Voltaire’s letter to Maffei and the latter’s reply. He dedicates his work to Doge Pietro Grimani, whose coat of arms, engraved in red chalk, adorns the title page.
