CUISIN (Charles) - BARBEY (W.). The genus Epilobium, illustrated by Ch. Cuisin under the auspices of William Barbey. Lausanne, Bridel, 1885, in-4 album, 4 unnumbered leaves—23 plates (numbered 24; plate 20 is missing), each preceded by a leaflet of explanations. Publisher’s cardboard binding, red cloth spine. — Very faint foxing, more pronounced on 2 or 3 plates. Binding is sturdy. 23 plates (24 x 31 cm) drawn and lithographed in black and white by Charles Cuisin. One is double-sized. Text in Latin or English. This rare series was intended to illustrate a monograph on the genus Epilobium on which W. Barbey was working. However, C. Haussknecht beat him to it in 1884. Consequently, the botanist published only Cuisin’s beautiful iconographic work.
