Jusepe de Ribera (Xàtiva 1591 – Naples 1652) Christ at the Column Oil on canvas 83.5 x 72 cm. Framed The painting is accompanied by an expert report by Prof. Nicola Spinosa. Ribera explored subjects from the Passion of Christ throughout his career, particularly between 1615 and 1630. According to Nicola Spinosa, this painting is an autograph replica of *Christ at the Column* in the Galleria Sabauda, Turin, dating from the mid-1620s. The two paintings share close similarities in the depiction of Christ’s face, compositional format, and naturalistic style, both drawing on the figure of Christ in Ribera’s *The Deposition* (1621–1622) at the National Gallery in London, painted for the Genoese prince Marcantonio Doria. Private collection.
