Sebastiano Conca (attributed to) (Gaeta 1680 – Naples 1764) Madonna in Glory with Hosts of Angels and Penitents Oil on canvas 105 x 39.5 cm. Framed The painting is a preparatory study for a large-scale composition, likely a church ceiling fresco that has not been located and may never have been executed. Its fluid brushwork and dynamic composition reflect the influence of Solimena and De Mura, as well as Garzi and Baciccio, reinterpreted in a more pronounced Rococo style. Giancarlo Sestieri accordingly attributed the work to Sebastiano Conca, who was particularly skilled in the execution of preparatory studies. W. Apolloni Gallery, Rome; private collection, Rome.
