Framed This sculptural depiction of Saint Augustine, richly attired in a miter and cope and seated at his desk surrounded by books, reflects a post-Caravaggesque pictorial tradition influenced by Ribera and, above all, Gregorio and Mattia Preti. While the attribution remains unresolved, Professor Nicola Spinosa has suggested Giacomo Farelli as a possible candidate in a communication to the owner. Private collection.
