A Chinese Archaic-Style Carved Jade Cong Carved from honey-brown jade, the body decorated with hand-carved geometric patterns. Height: 25.5 cm Provenance: Estate of Shaul Eisenberg. Purchased from the above by the present owner. Notes: Shaul Eisenberg (1921–1997) was a German-born Israeli businessman and art collector. After fleeing Nazi persecution, he settled in East Asia, where he established extensive interests in international trade and industry. A significant figure in Israel’s economic development, he was the controlling shareholder of the Israel Corporation. Eisenberg was one of the first Western businessmen to establish high-level commercial ties with the People's Republic of China and was personally acquainted with many high level Chinese officials.
