LUDO Nancy 1909: A Specially Built Airship Will Make Daily Flights at the International Exhibition of Eastern France An aviation retrospective is the theme of this poster for the International Exhibition of Science, Industry, and the Arts in Nancy, the industrial capital of Lorraine. This six-month event featured aviation attractions unlike any others, but who could resist the thrill of a ride aboard the “Ville de Nancy” airship, with its breathtaking view as it floated above the city? A Wright-style glider, a tethered hot-air balloon, and the aforementioned airship all float in an orange sky above the silhouette of Nancy, bathed in the deep red and delicate pink of the setting sun. Although the image area is in English in this version of the poster, the text at the top remains in French, providing a wealth of details for English-speaking viewers, including that the entire event is “Under the Official Patronage of the French Government.” ”/ An aeronautical retrospective is the main attraction in this poster for the International Science, Industry, and Art Exhibition in Nancy, the capital of the industrial region of Lorraine.
