Large blue-and-white porcelain vase, China, Ming Dynasty, Wanli period (1573–1620) With a stocky ovoid shape, short neck, and slightly flared rim, it features a blue underglaze enamel decoration typical of the “kraak” style intended for export. The body is punctuated by large, multi-lobed cartouches alternating between scenes of geese swimming amid a pond teeming with lotus flowers and delicate compositions of flowering peony or plum branches emerging from pierced rocks. These main panels are separated by narrow vertical bands adorned with swastika motifs and ruyi heads, while the shoulder features oval medallions enclosing peaches of longevity and leafy scrollwork. The neck is highlighted by a continuous frieze of stylized floral scrolls, and the base is encircled by a band of simplified lotus petals alternating with vertical bands. Height: 34.5 cm
