Ron Arad (born 1951) "Bookworm Shelf" Steel blade and patinated metal. Circa 1995. Ron Arad Studio edition. Signed on the tip: "Ron Arad". The work is accompanied by the original order form and the initial assembly plan. From a Luxembourg estate. Dimensions as shown: H: 155; W: 110; D: 20 cm A true icon of contemporary design, the Bookworm is one of Ron Arad’s most famous bookcases. Originally conceived as an experimental steel sculpture, it was later developed into an industrial version using an innovative extrusion technique that allowed for the reproduction of its free-flowing, undulating curves. Both functional and aesthetic, the Bookworm challenges the traditional form of the bookshelf. Flexible yet sturdy, it can be arranged in various configurations, transforming the wall into an artistic surface that is as practical as it is sculptural. Each shelf becomes a focal point, creating a unique rhythm specific to each installation.
