Light Cavalry Officer’s Saber, Type AN IX Handle covered in shagreen, with a watermark. “Chasseur-style” hilt, made of brass, chiseled, gilded, and decorated with flowers and foliage. Cap with a long tail. Three-pronged guard, shuttle-shaped side guards, and a curved crossguard. Curved blade with a flat back, a counter-edge, and hollow edges; engraved, gilded, and blued one-third of the way along its length. Iron scabbard with a cup-shaped base and two brass bands chiseled with a star within a wreath of foliage. ABE, early 19th century (oxidation)
