SALVADOR DALI - Workshop_x001D_ Vénus de Milo aux Tiroirs. Figure with six movable drawers. White-painted bronze based on Dalí’s 1936 model, circa 1964. See Robert and Nicholas Descharnes, *Dalí, Le Dur et le Mou*, Escart 2003, p. 37 with fig. 68 (*Grande Vénus de Milo aux Tiroirs*, 1964). - No. 80/150. Signed, numbered, and stamped “Venturi Arte” (Bologna) on the base. Height: 38 cm. Width: 10.5 cm. Depth: 11 cm. In 1936, Dalí added six drawers to a scaled-down plaster figure of the ancient Venus de Milo as a symbol of women’s hidden sexuality. This surrealist work appeared in 1964 in a bronze edition, which is intended to evoke the character of plaster through its white paint finish. [ms]
