Armand Heins (1856–1938): Cows in a barn, oil on canvas, Baarle (Baerle), dated 1916 Work: 75 x 60,5 cm Frame: 78 x 64 cm Armand Jean Heins was a Belgian etcher, lithographer, painter, and printer. His father, Jean Nicolas Heins, came from a family of winemakers from Luxembourg (Grevenmacher). His mother was Thérèse Jeanne Demaertelaere; her brother, Louis Demaertelaere, was a talented painter. Armand Heins also had an older brother, Julien (a musician and composer), a sister, Adeline, and a younger brother, Maurice, who was a lawyer, city secretary, and photographer. Artistic talent thus ran in Armand Heins's family. He studied at the Art Academies in Liège and Ghent (1867-1878) and specialized in lithography. In 1878 he took the first place, finishing ahead of his friend Gustave Vanaise. The absence of a condition report does not imply that a lot is in perfect condition.
