Belgian school, G. van der Vinck (20th C.): A Ghent cropper, brown-green patinated bronze H 22,5 cm As the name suggests, this is a cropper breed that originated in the vicinity of Ghent. Similar large croppers are said to have been observed in our region as early as around 1400. Cropper breeds distinguish themselves from other pigeon breeds by their peculiar habit of frequently inflating the crop with air. The Ghent cropper is a large, lively pigeon with a proud bearing, and very temperamental, like all cropper breeds.
