An important French Aubusson wall tapestry depicting the triumph of Flora, 17th C. 378 x 302 cm The design of this wall tapestry is attributed to Charles le Brun (1619-1690), first painter to King Louis XIV. This depiction belongs to a famous series of four tapestries representing the 'Four Seasons', woven at the Royal Aubusson Manufactory. The tapestry shows the arrival of spring through the goddess Flora, who arrives in her 'victory' chariot, as a symbol of spring triumphing over winter.
