PRICA ZLATKO (1916–2003) BATHERS AND BOATS. 1972. Oil on canvas. 65 x 91.80 cm. Signed and dated. PROVENANCE: Private collection, Italy. Following the major retrospective exhibition in Zagreb in 1970, Zlatko Prica’s painting confirmed the directions he had already developed in previous years: the figure is simplified into outlines, flat areas of color, and almost geometric forms, while the landscape is not depicted but rather recomposed through lines and color relationships. In *Bathers and Boats* (1972), this phase is fully recognizable: bodies and boats intertwine in an open structure, crisscrossed by dark lines and enlivened by blues, greens, yellows, and red accents. The subject remains tied to the experience of the sea, but it lives above all in the freedom of line and color. Frame included
