371 - Personalized US17 helmet from the 80th Division. A beautiful, complete US17 helmet in excellent condition. The side insignia is diamond-shaped and may correspond to that of the 2nd or 3rd Battalion of the 317th Infantry; paint appears to have been added over it. The helmet is personalized with the name Luther Wells Tooker, a native of Connecticut, who was successively assigned to the 304th, 164th, 138th, and then the 319th Infantry Regiments. Given that the 319th was also part of the 80th Division, the helmet was likely acquired by Tooker during his assignment to the 319th. Shows normal wear and tear and has a patina. Named US M1917 helmet of the 80th Division. Fine, complete US M1917 helmet in good condition. Diamond-shaped side insignia possibly corresponding to the 2nd or 3rd Battalion of the 317th Infantry, with later paint applied over it.
