Marked “2.E.A.R.40,” which, barring any error, stands for the 2nd Battery or Ersatz Abteilung of the 40th Field Artillery Regiment. Iron scabbard with traces of feldgrau paint. Signs of wear and patina. German ersatz bayonet of Field Artillery Regiment 40. EB47 ersatz bayonet with flat-backed, fullered blade, unpainted pressed-metal grip, and working release button. Crossguard marked 2.E.A.R.40, apparently a replacement battery or detachment of Field Artillery Regiment 40. Iron scabbard with traces of field-gray paint. Wear and patina.
