Jacques Poirier (French, 1928-2002) A Gambler's Still Life oil on panel signed Jacques Poirier (center right) 8 1/2 x 10 5/8 in. (21.6 x 27 cm) Property from the Estate of Ambassador J. William Middendorf II, Rhode Island This lot is located in Philadelphia. Framed: 14 x 16 x 2 in. The painting is in overall good condition. There is some wear and a few minor surface losses to the panel around the extreme edges, visible when the panel is removed from the frame. There are some drips of surface soiling throughout, visible in the darker area at top under raking light. Under UV light, there is evidence of inpainting along the top edge and at several places on the right side and at left center. The largest of these is at bottom right approx. 1 in. long in the table.
