Duilio (Dubè) Barnabé (Italian, 1914-1961) Femme au Chignon, 1952 oil on canvas signed Barnabe and dated (upper right); signed again, titled, dated, and inscribed San felice 21 Bologna (on the reverse) 39 1/2 x 33 1/4 in. (100.3 x 84.5 cm) Property from a Private Family Trust, Chicago, Illinois This lot is located in Philadelphia. Framed: 47 1/2 x 41 3/4 x 3 in. Canvas is unlined. Minor deposits of surface dirt and dust; one small paint loss in the upper right corner; one slight bulge to the canvas along the upper center edge, causing a line of cracking to the paint; a localized area of pinpoint paint losses in the lower right corner. Under UV light: small areas of inpainting in scattered areas of the background; possible additional inpainting in the background to the right of the figure's shoulder; certain pigments fluoresce, particularly in the figure's right forearm, but this appears to be inherent to the pigments used.
