28 - Maximilien Luce

Maximilien Luce (French, 1858-1941) Paysage près de Charleroi oil on paper laid to canvas signed Luce (lower right) 13 3/4 x 10 5/8 in. (34.9 x 27 cm) This lot is located in Philadelphia. Unframed. The painting is in overall good condition, with some light surface soiling throughout, visible in raking light. There are four vertical areas of paint at left that are visible in raking light and under UV light, that have apparently been restored and repainted. The top right corner also shows signs of restoration under UV light. The top right corner also has some creasing diagonally. Additional images available upon request. Provenance: Christie's, New York, sale of September 24, 2004, Lot 20. Acquired directly from the above sale by the present owner.
