Dominique Fury, Dominique Jeantet (known as) (born in 1956) & Hondo (born in 1972) Iceland Spray paint on canvas, signed and titled on the back of the canvas, 147 x 114 cm Dominique Fury, a self-taught artist born in 1956 in Paris, creates paintings, silkscreen prints, photographs, videos, and installations. After spending three years in New York, where she was involved in the underground scene—notably at Andy Warhol’s Factory—she returned to France, founded the punk band LUV, and joined the Bazooka collective, all while learning screen printing in the 1970s. Describing herself as “cyber-punk,” she uses images from the press, text fragments, and reproductions of artworks, which she manipulates, collages, and layers, in the tradition of Pop Art. Aurore Pierlot, a gallery owner, believes that, much like street art or graffiti, Dominique Fury creates original work that represents a popular and accessible side of art. She has created series of works in collaboration with artists such as Jacques Monory, Philippe Waty, Hondo, Jérôme Ménager, and Chanoir.
